bereajoy reported that European Commissioner Peter Kerstens has called on the crypto industry to help come up with solutions for regulating DeFi in the coming years. Kerstens said Defi represents a paradigm shift from centralized finance in bookkeeping, and a paradigm shift is needed in regulation.
As bereajoy previously reported, a research report by the European Commission stated that, recognizing that the information structure of DeFi is different from that of traditional finance, standard policies cannot effectively regulate DeFi. The report recommends that first, a separate policy be developed to regulate the activities of legal entities based on micro-prudential requirements. Second, the voluntary compliance framework will cover agreements and legal entities. The third is a public observatory based on public opinion and on-chain data.
